Beware of Twitter Account Phishing Scam

You may have received an e-mail like this:

Twitter Phishing E-mail Scam

It says, "Attention! We detected that someone was trying to steal your Twitter account password. We strongly recomended you to download our secure module to protect account! Please click on the link below:"

Seems legit, right? I mean it came from Twitter and has a Twitter.com link so it's all good! A little amateur investigating quickly proves that not to be the case.

Clicking "show details" reveals a different "reply to" address and simply hovering the mouse over the link displays a completely different, non-Twitter related domain.

Do not attempt to click the link in the e-mail as it will only result in your account being stolen. Ironic, since this e-mail is supposed to be warning you that someone is trying to steal your Twitter account. At least that part of the e-mail is the truth.
